Archaeology on the Silk Road: Discovering the Lost City of Ilibalyk (Kazakhstan)

Charles A. Stewart
Swallow Hall 101

Please join us for a lecture by Charles A. Stewart (Art History, University of St. Thomas).

Prof. Stewart specializes in the analysis of Late Roman and Early Medieval architecture, especially in the eastern Mediterranean region. In general, his publications investigate transitional periods of history, as well as artistic, technological, and economic exchange between neighboring cultures. These interests have led him to study the societal development of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity in Central Asia, North Africa and Europe.

There will be a reception prior to the lecture at 5:30 in the reception area of Swallow Hall.
